What can DNA sequencing do for the Vanilla community?
Dr. Faith Belanger
School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers University
New Brunswick, NJ
The cost of DNA sequencing is now so low that it is possible to obtain sequence data from specialty crops, such as Vanilla. The basics of sequencing and how the data can be useful to the Vanilla industry and researchers will be discussed.
Dr. Faith Belanger is a faculty member in the Plant Biology and Pathology Department at Rutgers University. She has characterized several new enzymes from Vanilla.
